The fast I have chosen...

I am absolutely undone!! This morning I was reminded of a passion that was ignited in my heart 6 years ago when I went to Cambodia and Thailand for two months on outreach with Youth With A Mission. Before we left, we received cultural training and learned a little bit about FGM (female genital mutilation) and Child sex trafficking and exploitation. The statistics show that 2 children are sold to the sex trade every minute! Six years ago, I asked the Lord if He would not allow me to forget these little ones and the absolute wickedness that fuels this billion-dollar per year industry. He hasn't. The verse that He gave me six years is Isaiah 58:6-9...

"Is this not the fast that I have chosen:
To loose the bonds of wickedness,
To undo the heavy burdens,
To let the oppressed go free,
And that you break every yoke?
Is it not to share your bread with the hungry?
And that you bring to your house the poor who are cast out;
When you see the naked that you cover him,
And not hide yourself from your own flesh?

Then your light shall break forth like the morning,
Your healing shall spring forth speedily,
And your righteousness shall go before you;
The GLORY OF THE LORD SHALL BE YOUR REAR GUARD!
Then you shall call, and the Lord will answer;
You shall cry, and He will say 'Here I am'."

Oh that He would set these captives free! I write this to ask you to partner with me in prayer for these little girls and boys and for the ministries and organizations in place to help rescue and rehabilitate victims of sex-trafficking. The website I found this morning is www.love146.com. They are a non-profit organization committed to this cause.

Live

Live. And Live Well.BREATHE. Breathe in and Breathe deeply. Be PRESENT. Do not be past. Do not be future. Be now.On a crystal clear, breezy 70 degree day, roll down the windows and FEEL the wind against your skin. Feel the warmth of the sun.If you run, then allow those first few breaths on a cool Autumn day to FREEZE your lungs and do not just be alarmed, be ALIVE.Get knee-deep in a novel and LOSE track of time.If you bike, pedal HARD… and if you crash then crash well.Feel the SATISFACTION of a job well done—a paper well-written, a project thoroughly completed, a play well-performed.If you must wipe the snot from your 3-year old’s nose, don’t be disgusted if the Kleenex didn’t catch it all… because soon he’ll be wiping his own.If you’ve recently experienced loss, then GRIEVE. And Grieve well.At the table with friends and family, LAUGH. If you’re eating and laughing at the same time, then might as well laugh until you puke. And if you eat, then SMELL. The aromas are not impediments to your day. Steak on the grill, coffee beans freshly ground, cookies in the oven. And TASTE. Taste every ounce of flavor. Taste every ounce of friendship. Taste every ounce of Life. Because-it-is-most-definitely-a-Gift. -Kyle Lake-
