The 28 day Jesus Challenge...

Ok, here it goes. I'm ready to be a doer of the Word. A real DOER. DO-ER. Not just a hearer or writer or "blogger" of the Word.I want to walk away from what I read and take action; actually understand what the scripture commands and walk in obedience. I talked to Seth today about reading a chapter a day in the book of Matthew and whatever commands we come across, to do them. I heard of this idea several years ago when I heard a pastor's testimony. When he was just beginning his relationship with the Lord a dear friend of his challenged him to make the effort to get up early and spend time in the Word. He did and began to take every single commandment to heart. Not in a legalistic way- but in a literal way. It absolutely changed his life.

I want to carry out this challenge publicly for two main reasons: Accountability and Transparency.
I read so many blogs and facebook statuses and interviews that are manufactured... and I am right at the forefront. Every word is weighed, every sentence tweaked, every thought re-invented to sound the very best. The best foot is forward. Well, I'm putting both feet forward and for those of you who have seen my feet, you know that is a bit humbling. It's not like it's a huge risk anyway. I think I have maybe 6 regular followers (Thanks, guys!) It's late, so I'll start tomorrow. I can't wait to see what's in those pages...

Live

Live. And Live Well.BREATHE. Breathe in and Breathe deeply. Be PRESENT. Do not be past. Do not be future. Be now.On a crystal clear, breezy 70 degree day, roll down the windows and FEEL the wind against your skin. Feel the warmth of the sun.If you run, then allow those first few breaths on a cool Autumn day to FREEZE your lungs and do not just be alarmed, be ALIVE.Get knee-deep in a novel and LOSE track of time.If you bike, pedal HARD… and if you crash then crash well.Feel the SATISFACTION of a job well done—a paper well-written, a project thoroughly completed, a play well-performed.If you must wipe the snot from your 3-year old’s nose, don’t be disgusted if the Kleenex didn’t catch it all… because soon he’ll be wiping his own.If you’ve recently experienced loss, then GRIEVE. And Grieve well.At the table with friends and family, LAUGH. If you’re eating and laughing at the same time, then might as well laugh until you puke. And if you eat, then SMELL. The aromas are not impediments to your day. Steak on the grill, coffee beans freshly ground, cookies in the oven. And TASTE. Taste every ounce of flavor. Taste every ounce of friendship. Taste every ounce of Life. Because-it-is-most-definitely-a-Gift. -Kyle Lake-
